I went shopping in beautiful Bluffton South Carolina yesterday and I want to share this place with everyone. It is a small historic town located on the georgous May River right over the "big bridge" 40 minutes from Tybee Island.

Sissy , the cat, likes it and thinks it has great energy. If you have ever tried to throw a cast net to catch some shrimp ..You KNOW how much energy that takes. (Sissy loves Shrimp!)

Mission Accomplished.. A Boat , A New York Apartment, A Beach Cottage....

Before Christmas I was hired to pull together a condo for a client that sold his house on the Isle of Hope and moved to a condo on Tybee Island. His long range plan is a farm house and land but for now he is creating a "nest " for work and a place for his grown children to visit. He had been doing some serious pondering and had so many pictures and art that were very important to him. His goal..a boat..an apartment in New York..and a beach cottage for his girls.
I am all about "surround yourself with the things you love" and make "your home ...your style".
In my opinion, cookie cutter design is boring. It takes making it personal to makes it wonderful!!!!
I met with the client and he shared the research and limited budget.

WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO ?.............................Save him money..Pick out paint colors... ..find places in his condo for 70 pieces of art....and get it done before his children arrive on Christmas Eve.

I took a deep breathe, divided all the art and prints into categories and took off to shop in the "tiny budget mode".

Can I just say..the design fairies understood my situation (not to mention I had NOT done my own Christmas shopping) and I was able to accomplish the mission. We still have his own bedroom , a great back splash for his kitchen and a few odds and ends to wrap up. We are planning a visit to his storage unit to see what treasure are waiting for us.

the throw was on sale and added a punch of the color that seemed to be in most all of the prints and photographs of New York

the children's desk(when they were small) complete with their glitter graffiti .Used it as the night stand.

we needed to removed the screens and wash the windows.....

Clean windows are one the most underrated parts of good design............

the paintings , the shutters and chest were part of his "stuff" we put to good use.

Emmaline's Birthday Surprise!!!!!

Anna called me to help create a birthday surprise for her niece's 13th birthday. She painted an old sleigh bed the color of her favorite scarf

The guys brought the bed and mattress up stair to what had been an empty off white bedroom...walls and carpet.................

She want to create a fun bedroom ( we had three hours) for Emmaline as a surprise. Of course she had IRONED the beautiful white sheets and pillow cases and the room had the beginnings of her magic.
Her other inspirations were 2 beach house blue pom pom euro shams, a fun sock monkey with polka dots and stripes and a yellow green fan. I walked in with a green scarf and and an eggplant jacket on and I was perfect for the room.....color...color ... and more color!!!!!

Anna knows I am ALWAYS up for creating fun and happy spaces. (especially for a surprise) We had such fun making this room for Emmaline. We took off to my storage unit and my office to pull and dig and grab some pieces for the room.

The Isle of Hope table, The Jellyfish Table, and The Luscious Little Table from my on line store janecoslick.myshopify.com were thrilled to be included. Some of my "I dont know why I love this piece so much" storage unit treasures together with things we pulled and grabbed and pondered (for 10 seconds or less) filled Anna's car and my truck.

Removed the closet to the left of the bed....(who needs a closet)...... so the bed can center on the wall........in anticipation of my funky merry go round headboard. The sunshine streams in to the room to warm the winter soul.

Moving to Camp Palm Tree...................

You 've heard..."Next to death and marriage...moving is the most stressful thing".
Next week it happens!!!
Of course the cottage isn't ready and I have 2000 square feet of furniture to move in to 621 square feet...( not to mention my clothes, my pink bike and my 4 cats)
The closet is still wet with paint and old footed tub has not been refinished. I had forgotten that the bottom was still rough where someone had tried to clean it with muricatic acid and pitted the bottom.
First thing on the list tomorrow morning...call a professional.

Here is the security guard. I just love love love palm trees!!!!

It is definitely a happy place..I give it that much. I am using what I have until I can dig deep into my storage unit to find the 65 or 66 favorite things I own.( that will pretty much fill up the cottage) The serious problem with that is..."I love it all so much and I enjoy my things". I am a serious treasurer hunter and right now my storage unit is full and my office is full and my truck is full. My favorites are on loan to friends who need styling and in my other shed on Isle of Hope(that may turn into a cottage at ony moment..but not this month)
When I sold A Bohemian Cottage in September I left it full of furniture that I love and miss . The new owner loves it as much as I so it's fine. I have been restoring and furnishing and designing and creating for years. ....and leaving favorite things along the way.

I found this photo Richard leo Johnson took 12 years ago looking into the living room dining room and kitchen. I scanned it to share.That man is so talented !!!!

HATS for the sunshine....where is that sun screen? It is going to be 78 degrees today and I will be walking the beach pondering my future. Sometimes there are bumps in the road of life and I need some time for some serious pondering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Christmas Gift of a" Bellamy" and a Happy New Year!!!!

Happy Belated New Year and here is the Photo of the Christmas gift of Bellamy art!!!!!! I love it that you wanted to see the gift.

. I would have been back sooner but my computer has been sick and at the doctor!!!1 I got it back yesterday....

It was perfect and they loved it. It worked with their beautiful furnishings and finished off the room beautifully!!!

I love what they have done with their home . The great ottoman came from Habersham Antique Galleryhabershamantiquesmarket.com The coral was from my mother's collection and the silver tray was/is mine. My mother and I bid on it at Wexler's Auction house in Washington DC. When we got home I could tell it had to been a Butler's tray. I used to serve things to my guest and always wanted to have it engraved.... "The Butler died". It was so heavy and could I only dream of the world of Butlers...
I live in 640 square feet and this tray is 3 feet wide.....Scaling down is not always easy but as long as the things you let go of go to a good home..it is less difficult.
I began my journey in a 3000 square foot house( where the tray lived) to 640 square feet my new home!!!!( Not much room for much!!!!)

The Bellamy Rooster was the other gift for their kitchen. They are starting a collection of roosters.......

This Bellamy Oyster was a wedding gift from her to them. It is unique in its colors and looks amazing in their house.It pulls out all the great colors in their home.

On the Happy New Year note .. I got to visit with my good friend and buddy "Putty" on NEW YEAR'S DAY and eat collard green for money and blackeyed peas for luck .

Is that a beautiful face or what!!!

Anna is out of school for the Christmas holidays so we had time for a visit . I dropped by so we could play "catch up" and I took a few photos of the beautiful Christmas creations by my talented friend. We decided to work on a guest room and went shopping for wonderful things. We call it "design therapy" and have so much fun doing it. Of course the holiday is around the corner, but being with friends..................is so much more important than holiday wrapping paper !!!!!

Running Out Of Time.............

I locked myself out of my office today and had to crawl through the doggie door (not a very good way to begin the day.)
The good news.. I can still fit through the doggie door!!!!!!

As a designer, the year end is always crazy busy with paper work and going back through the year to see what I missed and overlooked. My desk is piled high with "stuff" and my list of " TO DO" has all the task I move from month to month until this FINAL month when I can't put things off any longer. My clients all know what is coming and they all know how much I hate the task of billing.
For Christmas I am going to ask for a new book keeper and a light for My bike for riding in the dark.
I have learned so much this year ..... the blog , facebook,on line shopping. I love all of it and I would do anything to avoid .."billing".
I am working on a quick project... the client wanted to redo his condo....he wanted a mix of a flat in New York , a boat, and a beach cottage...................... I jumped right in (anything to avoid the billing and the year end tax stuff) and I am thrilled with the progress....found very cool things in the boxes of the client and lots of prints, art, and family photos. We put wood on the wall behind the sofa and plan to add a tile back splash to the generic kitchen... Pictures very soon....

Island Cottage Christmas....

I took a long walk (the Jane Coslick restoration project)and snapped a few Cottage Christmas photos.
It was 75 today and instead of a snow village I told my my client to have a "shell" village............ Rain tomorrow and then very cold.
So depressed about my permit for my cottage restoration...Such a slow process!!!! Tried to walk off my frustrations......and remember .. good things take time,

My Newest Project. The Restoration of Jane Coslick!!!

I took the day off to begin this project... The weather was in the 80's so I took my bike to the "Rails to Trails " at Fort Pulaski just a few minutes from Tybee.
I didnt have to cook anything for Thanksgiving ..THANK GOODNESS ( because I am no good at it).... so I decided to begin the restoration project over the Thanksgiving holidays .................

It began with my pink bike and the nature trail!!!

I love love love my pink bike ..............

My friends made this "bridge" to the water's edge off the trail

at the far end of the trail.....

the end of the trail has 4 picnic tables and momentos left by those who came before.

I left nothing but pondered how I could bring back all the empty water bottles that people left in and around the trash bin.

Every 3 miles there is a sign.....to let you know how far you have come.The total trail is twelve miles long.
................I think it is time to ride "FAST AS THE WIND" while I still can..................

Update: A Colorful Cottage .......

A few unique qualities in the colorful cottage makes for creative design ..

A Murphy bed is located behind the crab painting) for extra sleeping space... this is a small sitting area with so many book cases to fill.......

The small study is off the main foyer so sleeping there is a bit like sleeping the hall! I think that once the bookcases have lots books and accessories like shells and photograph it will be a great space..and the bed is extremely comfortable.
The chairs will have to move away so the bed can drop down and sweet dreams can begin.....................

Fun fabrics for the recycled club chairs and throw pillows........... .a crab painting by Chris Walker. The painting is attached to the wall which is the base of the bed.... so when the bed is down the painting is safe.

The colors in the fabric for the throw pillows coordinate with the clients love for the pinky orange and turquoise of the front door and exterior benches.
These are " bargain loving" clients so we have had a great time turning her great deals into great rooms.

Sorry about the table in the foyer and the things on the hutch but this is an "under construction space".
The end tables actually go in the bedroom up stairs. They were brown and pitiful but with a coat of white paint will look amazing in the small periwinkle and green bedroom. The painters did a wonderful job giving new life to old and odd pieces of furniture. They were so pleasant to work with and did not mind all the colors we picked for all the pieces. Most painters hate to see me coming because they know what is in store...lots of color and lots of cleaning out the paint brush.

The dining room is turning out great and once the window seats are covered and a few pieces of furniture are tweaked it will be ready for renters and happy people.

The newly purchased vintage red coral chandelier. We are adding a few things to it and changing a few things and then it will be the high light of the kitchen area.

In the right hand corner of this photo are two bamboo chairs that were left here. We painted them red and are covering the seats with turquoise zebra fabric. It is actually outdoor fabric so should hold up well against sticky fingers and sandy bathing suits.

Bring on the accessories!!!!The clients have had a ball shopping and hopefully when their busy lives slow down a bit they will have time "to chill" at this happy place.

It is the night before Thanksgiving and I am thinking of all I have to be thankful for. You came to mind. My dream came true this year to remodel my kitchen and greatroom. It would never have been as awesome as it is without your help. I am so glad I found you because you truly helped me to create the vision I had. Without your expertise and creativity the end result (I hope I am finally near the end) would not have been what I wanted. Just the choice of the paint color in the greatroom & dining room was brilliant. Through you, I learned patience and how to just chill when things don't go as we planned. I feel so blessed to have met you and worked with you. May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may you be blessed with all you desire in this coming year.

Gifts from the Sea... The Shell Shop... and My Mom

I am reminded of the use of shells in design when I see the shells that visitors have collected from the beach and then don't take home when they leave. My great aunt taught me at a very young age the beauty of silver charm bracelets and shells from the beach! She gave me my first shell and my first charm for my silver charm bracelet.
. I had a shell collection as a girl scout and have alway picked up shells and rocks and stones along the way of life. My guest used to write me crazy messages on the shells when they visited my cottage.

As I begin the restoration of my cottage, I am running across so many shells that the renter left here. Should I take them back to the beach? I am a girl about nature and a girl about design so I will share some of the ways the shells that we find can make our lives more beautiful...

I have decided to add on a tiny bit to my first beach house and move in as soon as possible. It is 621 square feet and I lived there when I moved to Tybee Island in 1992. It had Spanish Mediterranean cabinets and orange laminated counter tops. It was beige and brown but the walls were so interesting and the ocean was 99 steps away............

Anna's Latest Wedding Flowers

I helped Anna with another wedding and it was wonderful.( All I do is pick up and clean up and hand the right flowers requested and take a few photos as the beauty unfolds) I wanted to share the creation from the beginning. It takes months of planning and preparation for any special event. The days leading up to the wedding are so busy . Once the flowers have arrived safely ...have you ever carried a five gallon bucket full of water and flowers....NO small task ,I can assure you.!!!!

I watch in amazement as the work unfolds. Creating everything from giant arrangements 4 feet by 5 feet wide to small pompadour balls for the flower girls, bouquets, and bunches of beautiful trailing flowers attached to a suspended twig mossed platforms. Breathe taking, for certain!!!

In this wedding there is a twig arbor outside with the river as a back drop. The same twig detail is repeated in the beautiful hanging arrangements created on a pulley system.

Hi friends. It's Crystal here. You know that crazy chick that always starts a blog, grows tired of it and poof it's gone. Yep! That's me, and you have my permission to refer to me as crazy Crystal from this point on. It has been a while since I guest blogged on here and I've got some vintage beach goodness for you today. My hubby and I recently celebrated our anniversary on the GA coast. We started out at St. Simons Island and wrapped things up over at Jekyll Island. While my hubby has visited both Islands, I had never had the pleasure. And now after visiting them both I can honestly say my heart is with Tybee Island 100%!

While we were visiting St. Simons Lighthouse we found a diamond in the rough. It's located directly across from the lighthouse office. Does this have JANE COSLICK written all over it or what? To see the entire image on the ones that are cut off, just click on the image to enlarge.

Beach front Property. You can see it needs lots of work. It's in pretty sad shape. But nothing Miss Jane couldn't conquer. I have no idea if it's for sale or not. It was empty and the door was cracked open a bit just inviting me in for a spell. My husband on the other hand was against it and kept reminding me that I would be trespassing. TRESPASSING??? I didn't see any "No Trespassing" signs. If I had been alone I would gone in. Men! Pfftt!!

Actually......................
My assistant Kristin has taken a full time job and so I will have to carry on her organizational skills. She was sad to leave but needed to work a full week. I will miss her because we laughed most of the time and she was great at keeping things in order.

Here is a photo of her with her new engagement ring. She is very talented and loves things in perfect order. She want to be "on stand by" for me but I think her plate will be full and so will her day on her new job.

We use the bath tub at the office for storing pillows when there are several jobs in the works. We were acting very silly and Kristin couldn't resist falling in the tub.

The holidays are upon us and school will be out soon. I am helping Anna with a wedding this weekend so she will be around to help me if I need extra hands, feet or brains until next year.

A progress report on the new project...a large beach house on Tybee Island.
It takes more of everything to design a large beach house.. more bedrooms, more bathrooms, more bed linens, more chairs, more tables and more sofas.... so many stairs , nooks and cranny's and porches to design............................
The living room and dining room has a mix of the owners "bargain hunting" finds. They are all interesting pieces but don't exactly work together. Found some bargain fabric to slipcover the two wing chairs for the wonderful dining table ........... still pondering the finished product for the living room...Creative juices are flowing..I Love a challenge!
Sea Grass rugs are on the way and things are primed and ready for COLOR COLOR and more Color. Headed that way this morning so I had to dream last night in Technicolor...............

So far we have......................

great transoms above every door ..a perfect place for a star fish or two.. the owners had several Bellamy painting so I snatched them off their walls in town and hung them all at Tybee

they loved this fabric so we slipcovered a tired club chair the previous owners left behind.. did not have quite enough fabric so I added something I had in "THE" fabric closet (my office)

this room needs soft linen panels( IKEA has Great ones) to soften the strong lines of the blinds
NOTE When you design a bed room PLAN a wall for beds !!!!

Mother Nature ..A Great Designer

I am working on a new project with a client I had not seen in years. We have a had a great time treasure hunting, shopping and being careful with the expenses. We are semi-preparing a place for her parents to move. They have beautiful things but not ready to bring them this way.SOOO we are using nature and the" traveling Bellamy oyster" and a few comfortable pieces of furniture(that have NOT arrived yet) to create their new home. We made several trips to Nadeau,World Market and Habersham Antique Gallery to find lots of great things. . We slipcovered some rather ugly dining chairs with some beautiful linen from GDC in Charleston SC and spruced things up with a wonderful neutral color from Ben Moore 1524.the original color on the wall was an off white with a touch of yellow.

they have a beautiful marsh view (will recommend a new chandelier)

we are all in love with the rusty crusty old turquoise coffee table..and I am so crazy about using shells in design.

the bookcases seem so empty so I added a few books from my library( which now spills out all over the floors in my office) I love books!!!!

The end of a busy week and I am a very lucky person. I watched the sun come up on the ocean as I start my day and this was the view as I wrapped up my week.
I call it "the yellow brick road"...... it only last a few minutes and I imagine I would get pretty wet..if I decided to take it.
This is the Back River on Tybee and Aj's Restaurant. They have wild Halloween decorations .. a big spider jumps at you as you walk by it... just one of many surprises for visitors.

The project is 96% done...waiting for fabric and a few slipcovers. Still pondering the Great Room but the fabric did not get shipped so I have a few more days of pondering. THIS area is a challenge..but I just look out the windows and door at the beauty of nature and think positive thougths about the space.

A New Beach House Adventure...............

I am so excited and tired...creating a new home for some very busy people. I told them I could "pull" their new beach house together in a week! They have been buying things and more things until I suggested they... STOP... until we really knew what else was needed to complete the house.
The house is beautiful but a little scary...............the views will blow you away and nature IS the best designer.
It has soooooooooooo many light fixtures and colors and corners that it feels like a maze. Oh, it is going to be great ,but a few corrections are in order.
Budget is tight and hopes run high and I cant wait until they spend their first night and call me to say they are relaxed, and happy watching the waves roll in and the seagulls fly by.

we need curtain panels at the windows because very few of the walls in the bedrooms are solid walls suitable for beds and/or headboards.

A Little " Fluffing" is good for the Soul...

I am sharing the preparation for the photo shoot . I love love this house and I hadn't given much thought to doing anything to "fluff" before the shoot.
Amazingly, it was.... adding a thing here and there...moving a rug...adding a throw pillow or two or three or four...... adding some color to the kitchen cabinets(the coral knobs borrowed from my another client) and painting the pantry screen door the cottage collection color I call "Heaven". .http://janecoslick.myshopify.com/collections/janes-colors

I ordered new knobs for the kitchen but they did not arrive in time .
I have the original red coral knobsI had used in the powder room so I borrow all Tybee Shutters Cottage kitchen red coral knobs ..added my own and we had enough for the shoot .( adding some color to the kitchen for interest)

My Client To The Rescue !!!!!!

My client came to the rescue for the photo shoot. The knobs I ordered did not arrive in time so my " Plan B" was to borrow coral knobs from "Tybee Shutters Cottage" .( for the shoot)
My client was very kind to lend them to me and they worked out great.
However, she failed to tell the woman who was coming to clean Tybee Shutters about what I was doing . She called my client and said, "why did your house guest walk off with all your kitchen cabinet knobs?
TEE HEE!

I forgot how wonderful that cottage is so a snapped a few photos to share with you. It gave me so much pleasure to see it in person once again.

......the colors of the cottage from my cottage collection ( beach bucket red was an inspiration from those old shutters)

..........made the head board from the shutters we bought from the new owners of an old wonderful cottage at Tybee...they did know what they had ..thank goodness they offered them...... ............they "remuddled' that amazing cottage..BUT" Tybee Sutters" came to life from their mistake.

Found these great bar stool and rugs at World Market yesterday . They were 1/4 of what I had planned to pay for one great and wonderful stool. I will be "pondering while I play", as to what I will do to them.

I could not see out of the passenger side window because there were so many euro inserts .. like giant marshmallow taking over my truck......!!!!
The fabric is going to be one throw pillow on the yummy rusty crusty leather sofa.

The boxes I have recycled in to" packing my stuff "boxes for the next leg of my journey.... Hang around it will be a doozie!!!!

Preparing for A Beach Wedding

Anna was hired to do a wedding on the beach on Tybee Island this past weekend . I got a chance to help her with it................ it was so hectic......... but so much fun!!!!!...
There was lots of running around and hauling things to and from the beach. It turned out beautiful and everyone loved all the things that Anna created for the wedding celebration.
Here are a few photos of the preparation .The bride and groom wanted a simple beach wedding so Anna created her magic on the beach.

My latest project is so much fun I just had to share it .It isn't complete but I love how it is coming along. I was hired to design a neighborhood yogurt store (in my old neighborhood Isle of Hope).

The client fell in love with 4 my colors and with the vct flooring that I use in many of my cottages. We did a cottage feeling mixed with the retro ice cream parlor lighting and furniture.We added tin awnings over turquoise benches and old windows with cottage star fish and crab shutters . It feels friendly and relaxing and the yogurt is absolutely Yummy! I will take final photos to share with you once the retro swivel bar sools are on place at the counter.

First......
I want to thank you for all your kind comments on my last post!! That was such a great help. The new owner loves the cottage..she loves it as much as I do... AND she has made friends with Big Grey. I am so thrilled.

For now, I am renting a beach house from one of my great clients. I needed some time "to ponder" before I begin my new project . I helped them with this project several years ago and it has" evolved" into a fun and funky beach house. A new house that feels like an old beach house. High ceilings big porches open staircase and so many treasures ........................
.. They are the best "treasure hunters" I know. They are always on the hunt for great pieces. I have worked with them for years and we never do "normal".
He always teases me and says, "You are way over-rated".....and yet calls on me when he can't decided what in the world to do with all the treasure that he finds. He is a banker but loves to "junk'. He travels to Cuba and is crazy about the color green.
She is a wonderful writer and newspaper reporter .She has written 6 books about Savannah and is lover of kitties and old things. I am very lucky to have such and good and interesting friends.

After they collected so many old medicine cabinets that they did not know what to do with them I surprise them by hanging them all together over the soaking tub. They love it. ( Some of them still had the old bottles and boxes in side)

The client loves to paint signs and paints everything green..I mean everything!....He loves Jimmy Buffet and when he isn't painting things green he loves to spend the days on the beach.

He wants to" be me".......... but as a designer..everything cant be green!!!!!! So for now he will stick to his day job as the banker.........

I am packing and moving this week from this very special place. My good friend was so kind to help me pack and organize. . She was standing in my kitchen in the middle of all the boxes and said."This one was the ugliest EVER and just look at how wonderful it turned out to be."

Another friend came to town for the holiday and dropped by. She said ".We felt SO sorry for you when you showed us this place"

Her friend Alice said,"this time I think Jane Coslick has lost it. She may be good but no one could help that place."

It had been on the market for 5 years and it was so pitiful!!!! The only good thing was the back yard but the owner had taken all the landscape plants.

I began to " Ponder"................

There was so MUCH to Ponder and.....

Exactly WHY had I bought this place?

I bought it because it was the cheapest thing on the market at the time.....

and knew it needed major TLC.....................
HINT........cheap usually means you will be spending boat loads of money.....

I will try to show you before's snap shots but they don't even tell the real story...

OK this was the living room and this was the fire place. The floors were "clicky Pergo"and the dogs clicked as they explored their new home. It had a curved brick fireplace like the curved brick exterior walls outside .I "got ' the design element..... However, that made the living room 8 feet wide....and sofa and chairs were going to be a problem.. I had to steal from the master bedroom closet to make the room work.( but created a wonderful janecoslick's mess hide out)out of the next bedroom... I will miss that wonderful space the most).

NO, I will miss all the things I added that I want to grab and run away with that made it so bohemian .........

I have done this.. 'design it and run' many many times but this was not the plan here. I leave a bit of my heart and soul with each one I restore and this one even surprised me!!!! I made it uncomplicated and easy. ....

The movers will be here at 8:30 am so this will be a short list of a few things that mean so much to me. Not great photos but I am having serious separation anxiety. Most of these things are one of a kind...

found this very special antique on sale. I had been eyeing it for over a year and when it went on "super sale" I snatched it up for Colorado! The wonderful shade of blue worked great with the rug , the old wood and my color scheme. the wood on the walls and ceilings is old and recycled

this is the door to the clients office downstairs but my most favorite "find"!!!! It was sitting in a booth at Habersham Antiques in Savannah. The Colorado carpenters and builder made sooooooo much fun of it when I had it shipped out BUT once it was in place everyone was "in love". It is etched glass and had the word RED in the design.

this coffee table is OLD/NEW or new/old. It weighs a ton but it was perfect for shoes boots or flip flops...

an odd mix but gave me the "fun factor" I was looking for in this room.....the old trunk was so interesting..thought for sure it held an old treasure or two

On A Working Holiday....

I am at Marabou Ranch outside of Steamboat Springs Colorado........on a working holiday. I am busy but sit here every chance I get because I love this chair....

Steamboat Magazine wrote a story about the project Anna and I did at Marabou Ranch last year. I took so many funny photos and some great ones but never had time to post them. I am here now but cant work this computer to load my one million photos.

. Colorado is beautiful, Steamboat is wonderful and Marabou Ranch is off the charts. The article is linked on the Press button on my web site.
Bellamy painted some awesome paintings for the project.( she is part cowgirl) I bought some funky funky pieces in Savannah and I had the chance to do what I love on the Elk River 20 minutes outside of Steamboat .
I could have been a cowgirl/ or maybe I was an indian in another life. I love nature and the earth and I love the difference between the ocean and the mountains. This project was a chance for major " nest building" while the cattle and horses watched us thru the windows and the white owl scared Anna as it flew from its spot on the rafters of the porch late one night as we were hurrying to complete this project.
My favorite favorite thing was the rocking chair that bought for $400.00 dollars (that had a $1200.00 price tag). My friend and favorite upholsterer,Larry Davis ( Davis Upholstery) in Savannah Georgia) cover it in a cowhide that I bought years ago and has been savings for ME. When it was done, it was all I could do to put it on the truck bound for Steamboat.

TIMELESS BEACH COTTAGE BEAUTIFUL.........................

I love old beach houses. They are timeless and ageless. My birthday is drawing near and I want to be timeless and ageless .

Age is an attitude...so I may be in luck.

I have a positive attitude and an open mind. I work very hard but my work is not work to me...

There is a "better that good" chance that I will be moving soon. I have to go to Colorado next week on business and the following week I will be moving from "A Bohemian Cottage" .

There is change in the air and I am preparing for my next adventure.

I have a bit of sadness as I always do.... . But my next project is just sitting there calling my name....

I ran across this photograph of another old Tybee Cottage taken by the most talented and wonderful Richard Leo Johnson.http://www.atlanticarchives.com/ As a photographer he has captured so many of my projects. Once I showed a magazine scout a great cottage I had done, she did not seem very interested but when Richard sent scouting shots that he had taken she wanted it for her magazine. Is he GREAT or what!!

The truth about "Favorite Blouse Blue"

I was contacted about the Jane Coslick Cottage Collection Colors

and so I will begin with the color I named.. Favorite Blouse Blue.

I was working on Fish Camp Cottage at the time and needed a color for the exterior. The place was a mess and I had HGTV coming to shoot an episode of Dream Builders. They were going to shoot the site (dumpster and workmen) but it looked awful. What was a girl to do?

It is like when you try TOO hard.. it never works......

..... Like when you "have to have" a dress for a special occasion... you can never find one.

I had to give this pitiful place something great......

I thought it was beautiful but I was definitely in the minority on this one. I tried samples of colors but nothing was feeling just right.

I owned a blue/periwinkle linen blouse that people were always saying, " You look great " every time I wore it. If it could help me , I knew it could help my cottage.

I took the blouse to the paint store and ask them to match the color in exterior semigloss paint. I added the colors of the blooming landscape as accent colors and Fish Camp Cottage came to life.

Fish Camp Cottage was my home for 8 wonderful years. It made the cover of Cottage Living Magazine and shown like a star for the article. It was a magical little spot if ever there was one.

The new owner have changed the interiors but the outside still remains Favorite Blouse Blue.

Saturday Colors .....

I have been working entirely to hard so I decide to "stop and smell the roses" or in this case..... smell the salt water.

Aj's Dockside restaurant on Tybee Island is now renting kayaks and paddle boards along with serving great food , great music and great sunsets. It is a special place on our quirky little island .

I have watched all the kayaks and paddles boards and life jackets being delivered over the past several weeks (like Christmas in August) I love all the bright colors as they contrast with the docks and the salt water.Color is everywhere I look and I am all about the color!!! I took these photos today and tomorrow I might try paddle boarding............... I know full well I will probably fall right off the beautiful yellow board. Oh well. no harm in trying.

It was a very hot day and I rode out to a project to see what treasures could be moved to a wonderful( but tired) old beach house ..some serious fluffing needed..nothing "new" allowed.

I was "picking" some unused pieces to paint and take to the Tybee House.

We search under over around and through the amazing old home..It was great....

There was even an old wooden boat( under the house) that I am still pondering!!!!!

Long story short...it was a great experience and I will never forget this day.
