Christmas Cottages from Art Class

Here is a Christmas display of some of the Cottages outside the art room. I wish I could show each and every cottage that was built  because they all were unique and interesting. The art room was full of cottages..every nook and cranny had cottages...on the counters..on the floors .. in the closets.. on the tables...cottages .. cottage .. cottages and more cottages.
I was thrilled to be there and learn from their creative minds. I will try to show more ( I was proud of myself for loading as many as I did but can't remember exactly how I did it)
I just know Anna has planted the seeds of Restoration and Preservation by her teachings. The students ask important questions and I know that she has exposed them to will make a difference in their lives and in our world.
ART is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO important !!!!!!!!!

A Visit To Art Class

I visited Anna's art class to see the completed cottages and meet all of the budding artist. It was so much fun. They ask soooooooo many question as Anna put the photos of the cottages that I have done up on the overhead screen.
Questions like ..
How long does it take to fix up a cottage?
Why do I like old doors and windows and old things?
How old am I?
What is my favorite color?
How do I make a hanging bed?
Why do I like to make outdoor showers and take outdoor showers?
In the beginning of the school Anna Talked about what I did, how I did it and showed several photos of different projects.

In the photos of their cottages you will see the impression that my work sparked for  them. I am now inspired by them!!!!
I believe that Anna has planted a seed of preservation and restoration and great things will come from these beautiful little minds. Here are a few of the great projects. More tomorrow.

They wanted my autograph and that made me laugh.
Here are a few of the cottage they built. So wonderful!!!

Anna Speir's Holiday's Flowers At The Beach

Anna was having a surprise birthday party for a friend at the  beach cottage ( My wonderful "99 steps to the beach" ). It was a small party but Anna made it wonderful with her flowers and magic. The simple little cottage was transformed with her touch.

A  simple little beach cottage.................a strand of old christmas lights from my childhood .... fresh  holiday flowers in a small clusters from Anna Speir... .the light mist of the rain.. the anticipation of  visitors who have never been here before......the element of  a birthday surprise .......

Ready For A Few Tourist Asking Questions....

It is in the low 30's and low 20's and headed for the teens next week.  We might have some snow and ice. I guess the information booth won't have many patrons but it is 99% ready to go. I donated time and materials to make this little 5'X6' building presentable and usable for the city of Tybee Island. .

Not much room for shutters but for fun I squeezed a few on the windows

View  from the hut
The hut was moved to this spot on a front loader by the wonderful city workers
BEFORE

The information hut "BEFORE". Having a positive attitude about the proposed project helped. Actually, having a positive attitude about life really helps. My Dad taught me this when I was very young and it has been extremely important in all aspects of my life and my work.

The Room that Smiles!!!

Here are the lamps in the bedroom. (12/6 blog) They look like something from Anthropologie that cost $495.00 dollars, but they were $39.99 each and the spray paint was $3.49. We used all the existing brightly colored Ralph Lauren linens and the orange paisley pillow was in a chair in the living room. Actually it is one of my favorite pillows ((5 years ago I had it made for the dark wicker chair.) It made it's way into the bedroom and finally as the place of honor in the middle of the bed.

By the way, a giant German Shepherd  named Gus sleeps here!
