More Pictures from Anna's Art Room!

Schools out for Christmas! The students have taken their cottages home! The students wrote me "Thank You Notes" for coming out to talk to the class.

Here are some of the interesting things they wrote:

"You inspire me to follow my dreams... I want to be a scientist"

" You make me want to keep going on even if I mess up"

" I want to be like you one day"

" Just do what I love no matter what"

"Never met a person who's favorite color is white. That is rad"

" Hope you can still build houses when you are older. Maybe one day I can do what you do"

"It's cool that you remake the old houses, and make them new that really inspires me"

" I loved the swinging beds and really love the 99 steps cottage."

"You have inspired me to love art! My house was the "Big Bang Cottage".

I WAS THE ONE INSPIRED....they have "the magic" and the open minds and the future ....
The future is in the children( I don't remember who said that) and I am delighted about the future of cottages.
THANKS ANNA !!!!

Christmas Giveaway

PLEASE NOTE: GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Hi Everyone,

Crystal Dorsey here. I’ve been asked by my sweet friend, Jane, to do a guest post today. So thank you, Ms Jane. for having me over. It has been a while since I blogged. Some of you may remember me from the old Olive Rue blog and then there was Vintage Remixed and now I’m blog-less again. Long story and I won’t bore you with the details. While my blogs may come and go, one thing that has remained consistent in my life and that is my passion for photography.

I first visited Tybee Island in 2007 when I shot some bridal and engagement sessions on the beach. Since then I’ve been back several times but it wasn’t until this year that I had the opportunity to capture these beautiful cottages. Photographs will never truly do them justice. Seeing them in person is a magical experience. And if you ever get the chance, you have to visit this island Jane calls home. She has worked very hard to restore and preserve these cottages back to their original splendor. Walk through the front door of any one she’s worked her magic on, and it’s as if you have stepped back in time. If you are a vintage lover like we are, your heart will be sure to skip a beat. Now, you may be wondering what all this photography talk has to do with a Christmas giveaway.  Just read on…

Jane has a wonderful Christmas giveaway for all you dear bloggers. She is giving away this gorgeous pillow from her online store. It features colorful images of the Ibis bird and palm trees in a cheerful lime green, periwinkle, aqua, yellow and coral. It is made of durable indoor/outdoor fabric which is perfect for porch furniture, outdoor hanging beds, sofas, beds, hammocks or anywhere you like to relax and made to fit a 20x20 insert.

But wait, folks, that’s not all! I will be including a gift set of five photo note cards. Each card measures 5x7 and features a different image taken by me at Tybee Island at Jane’s cottages or ones that she has designed. The cards are blank inside and come with a matching white envelope. Elegantly packaged and tied with beautiful seam binding and ready for gift giving. Click on the image below for a closer look or, click here to go to my Etsy shop to see more images from Tybee Island and Jane's Cottages. This etsy shop is new and I will be donating 25% of the sales to the Milton Project which is a non-profit  organization funded by volunteers. Please leave me a note in the checkout section if you're coming over from this blog and you will receive a free photo note card with one of Jane's images with your order.

To be included in this giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment below. Jane will select a winner on Friday, December 24th. Good luck everyone. Until then wishing you all warm holiday blessings!

Christmas Cottages from Art Class

Here is a Christmas display of some of the Cottages outside the art room. I wish I could show each and every cottage that was built  because they all were unique and interesting. The art room was full of cottages..every nook and cranny had cottages...on the counters..on the floors .. in the closets.. on the tables...cottages .. cottage .. cottages and more cottages.
I was thrilled to be there and learn from their creative minds. I will try to show more ( I was proud of myself for loading as many as I did but can't remember exactly how I did it)
I just know Anna has planted the seeds of Restoration and Preservation by her teachings. The students ask important questions and I know that she has exposed them to will make a difference in their lives and in our world.
ART is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO important !!!!!!!!!

A Visit To Art Class

I visited Anna's art class to see the completed cottages and meet all of the budding artist. It was so much fun. They ask soooooooo many question as Anna put the photos of the cottages that I have done up on the overhead screen.
Questions like ..
How long does it take to fix up a cottage?
Why do I like old doors and windows and old things?
How old am I?
What is my favorite color?
How do I make a hanging bed?
Why do I like to make outdoor showers and take outdoor showers?
In the beginning of the school Anna Talked about what I did, how I did it and showed several photos of different projects.

In the photos of their cottages you will see the impression that my work sparked for  them. I am now inspired by them!!!!
I believe that Anna has planted a seed of preservation and restoration and great things will come from these beautiful little minds. Here are a few of the great projects. More tomorrow.

They wanted my autograph and that made me laugh.
Here are a few of the cottage they built. So wonderful!!!
