I'm going to be hosting a thirty minute Q&A session here on the blog. So mark your calendars for Friday, July 27th at noon. EST. If you've ever wanted to pick my brain now is your chance. Get those design related questions ready. Be sure to pass this news along to your friends. Blog it, tweet it, and shout it out on Facebook. The more the merrier. I will post a blog when I'm on, and then you can ask your questions in the comments section.  How does that sound?

New Slipcovers for Calypso Cottage....

The new slipcovers will work great in the colorful living room at Calypso Cottage. I love just being at this cottage and I have shared several of the rooms in previous post.( the polka dot picnic table and the old shutters headboard with the orange bird lamps )
There is not very much light in the space so we decided that COLOR would bring in the sunshine. The clients love color and so here goes....A very happy place for Gus, my four legged friend and family pet and happy colors.

A Small Space That is Large on Fun!!!!

This is a project that I really had fun with. It was a mix of two households that came together in an apartment at the beach.
I kidnapped a Bellamy painting from the client's larger beach house to hang over the sofa and mixed colors ,fabrics, textures with few funky additions.

The electrical is unusual and it is a bit of a problem  because  of codes at the beach in lower spaces. It looks a bit odd but following the building codes at the beach is very important.
Just focus on the wonderful colors!!
Anna was out of school and she helped me.. She had 3  buggies full at Target and 2 at Home goods. She is now Mrs. Anna  Lee and married to a wonderful person.
I am trying my best to help them with their new home plans. I  want them to move to Tybee Island and live on "tybee time" just as I do.
We created this space in a little over a day. ............

I am crazy about orange.....and pink!!

this is a great Bellamy that hung at the client's main beach house.I kidnapped it to hang here because it fits great.. colors and size. The  apartment is 500square feet so the art is "front and center" when the door opens!!!!!

pink, orange. green and the great tangerine lamps (Target.. Woo Hoo!)

A mix of prints and a touch of Purple make for some light hearted fun.
men and their boats and their fish......

The photographs of the fishing trips and the great white leather chair with nail heads
A Pottery barn oval dining table  and custom oyster shell candle sticks made from local oysters. The place mats are doubled for extra interest  and the  turquoise dishes  are faux pottery from Target.
I love this....World Market and a yummy turquoise inside

the other bedroom...  a daybed and twin bed.

a pinch of orange....World Market.. the mirrors are from Nadeau.

A House that needs a home in a hurry!

This is an  old Tybee  Cottage that has been given a death sentence!!!!! The owners want to to build a new home . Hopefully they will let someone move it to a lot and restore it.

The last time I moved a cottage and saved it  from demolition ..It ended up on the cover of Coastal Living Magazine in 2000.
It was in the same condition and yes, for a while I thought I was crazy, but it changed so many peoples attitudes about old cottages and our wonderful little island. That was years ago so I think a re-education is in order!!!!!
Palm Cottage moved and saved  1998

Fighting to save the old cottages of Tybee is a full time job. It doesn't pay in money but in the end the rewards are amazing.
This old cottage need to be moved(I have the house mover) and it needs a lot to be moved on to and restored.
If it were in Key West ..it would be done. For some reason our city is not protective of the history of our Island. The permitting department discourages instead of helping to save them. These little Gems bring so many visitors to our Island.
Any thoughts?

A Little Shabby,,A Little Chic...A Little Beach Cottage coming together

I made several trips to my storage unit and picked up Anna to have a bit of fluffing fun.  We tried to make things functional and space expanding. Actually LIVING in a small space takes planning and a big closet. I was thinking about having a small friends and family cocktail party so there is nothing like a party or a tour of homes to make one get things pulled together. ( the more I am thinking the more I am talking my self out of it.)

The main room is 16'x17'feet .( the kitchen, the living room, the bar and the dining room are all here,)White and natural light help expand the visual ...It has a wonderful high ceiling so it feels so much larger. The art makes the punches of color and the wooden walls and interior windows painted semigloss white make it very interesting.
HINT: if you want to add interest to you wall ....Add wood and paint them with a good quality  semigloss paint.

My most favorite blue stool (Anna's favorite too)
The trunk(coffee table) was in my first house(1980) and is oringinal heart pine beaded boards.

the tortoise shell bamboo table was my mother's and the the shark's teeth were discovered on a island near Fort Pulaski

a few collected shells and a few from my great Aunt's shell collection
When you live in 641 Square feet ..seeing all the way thru the house is very simple. There is a fine line between "to much" and "not enough"  stuff!!!!!

the porch and my pink bike

how about some lunch?

I reclaimed this chandlier from my client porch (his has turned in to a storage space)

I love this view...you can sleep and not miss out on the party!
the interior pocket window is my favorite

nothing like the outdoor shower after a sandy  day at the beach

have a nice soft beach towel...you may just have gotten a little to much sun.. ."Ouch"
The indoor shower and old footed tub...are a happy place for soaking the hours away...
