Luscious Little Cottage Pink..................

The color, the cottage, the beginning.......
I bought this cottage in the 2005. It was the smallest but the most expensive cottage.  It was next door to my 99 Steps Cottage so I wanted to preserve the little piece of the world at the dead end of the street... a small sand dune away from the ocean. I knew it would be sold and torn down and a mega mansion built in its place and I would have never forgiven myself.
I added a picket fence  and finished off the ticket booth( the back space). I painted and painted and painted ...Added the shutter over the front window, a handrail (with old antique pickets) new steps, and an antique brick patio at the base of the steps. I Added central heat and air and more paint. I replace the old shower with a nice new bath tub a new kitchen and an outdoor shower. I added one small window on the side to have a view of the ocean..
On day I was sitting on the back steps looking at the pink beack lily and ..the color of pink came to  me...I worked on different combinations of colors to come up with a match  to the lily... and I REpainted once more only this time  it was Luscious Little Cottage Pink.   http://janecoslick.myshopify.com/collections/janes-colors/products/luscious-little-cottage-swatches
I would not suggest this for an exterior  color but in this spot , I felt it added some personality to the 465 square  foot space. I used 3 colors and white to make it happy and inviting.

THE COLOR........

the pink beach lily

ths  lily bush
In the beginning....

the back view
the front view once I added the fence
then came the window box and wood awning over the pocket windows

the interior once I restored it

the view toward the front..a day bed with an ocean view. I added a window where the painting is on the left..for the ocean view

a detail shot of the ticket booth with the twin beds made from driftwood.
The cottage was featured in Coastal Living Magazine. I loved how Elizabeth Beeler styled it.....Under the slipcover on the chairs she exposed the animal print upholstery on the chairs...

Anna had just started working with me so they make her the model

the versatility of slipcovers

The Present.................
I sold the cottage to a family who love it as much as I do. They have redone the cottage in their own style and gave it a wonderful name OLD LOVE.  ( it even has a Bellamy oyster shell painting)
When they are not enjoying the cottage, they rent it thru Mermaid Cottages.www.mermaidcottages.com
 Take a look......

After and Before...............

Key Lime Parrot Cottage                    The Shrimp Cottage

I love this cottage and it's sister cottage The Shrimp!!!( Two cottages on one piece of property)

enclosed the space and added an outdoor shower for a bit of privacy
They are cheery cottages .. good mood living!!!!
They didn't always look like this..................
This is what they looked like when my clients purchased them and hired me to do my magic ..Fix them up and fluff them!!!!

They were very brave.

HERE IS 812 SECOND AVE( NOW CALLED ONE BEAD COTTAGE) IN AN ARTICLE FOR THE NEWPAPER. I LOVE TO SEE IT BECAUSE IT WAS ONE COTTAGE I HAD WANTED TO SAVE FOR YEARS...AND THE PHOTO IS OF MY MOM STANDING BY  THE SIGN. ..........SHE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN ME AND I MISS HERE VERY MUCH

I was so excited when I found the old original pocket window in the right side. someone had covered it up and it always looked like it "had one eye opened and one eye closed." My banker had purchased it and got scared  and sold it to me..My lucky day!!!!!!
Every time I ride by these three cottages, I fall in love with them all over again.

we had very little budget for decorating once the cottage was restored(which is the way it is in most cases)

I used most of the pieces that were Nora's and added a bit a white paint and hung you art and her prints on the walls

the front of the hutch got broken so I replaced it with chicken wire and added a chicken that I found in the cottage along with Nora recipe box and  white gloves pin cushion and photographs of her family. ( a little silly fun)
queen bedroom
the bunk room
Master Bed room (great matresses )

In design, using what you have in creative and different ways.. makes for good conversation when the renter arrive. Speaking of renter. Mermaid Cottages keeps it  book!!!It has a amazing rental history and it is pet friendly http://www.mermaidcottages.com/
These cute dogs shows up a bit early and were enjoying the great porch

they heard Mermaid Cottages supply dog treats so they were anxious to have a treat
By the way, Tybee is a great place to be a beach bum !!!!1
Love the "old hotel key" idea. When I  was young I did drop several in the mail box when we forgot to turn them in to the motel office.I alway wondered if the mailman really did deliver them back to the motel
nice old floors....(refinished)

A piece of Tony Pandifini art of a man and a boy fishing. It reminded me of the two grandsons who came to spend their summers at Tybee with their Grandmother  Nora.

the left side of the porch

couldnt resist a bit of pink and orange..

the right side of the porch
The beach is a great place to spend your summers but it is even a greater place to spend the winters and all the time in between.

Sandy McCloud has it listed http://www.sandymccloud.com/
