Color Made Easy

A wonderful beach house for a wonderful family is  featured in Meredith's current  Special interest publication called COLOR ME EASY. I love the photographs Richard Leo Johnson took of the house for the article.
An even greater thing... it is also going to be on the Jane Coslick Holiday  Tour fundraiser for the Humane Society..so you can experience it in "living color".
Try to come on the tour and help the animals and enjoy our quirky little island and these  quirky little (and big) island cottages. They are all different  and have never  been on the tour before.
Here are the pictures from the magazine. There are some wonderful and colorful  houses featured in this issue.,
I was in the checkout lane at Lowe"s and just happened to pick up a magazine while wanting for my turn. What a surprise…it made my day!!! I am not crazy about the colors they pick for each page….but if you love the rooms and  have any questions just email me.
NOTE: if you love a color in a photograph ,or your friends house, or on the Internet..have a sample made for your own space and paint it on the wall in a 4'x4' section..look at it day and night( artificial light tends to made colors more pale and washed out.

The view…and the Joe barstools….the deep blue sea is front and center and mesmerizing …all my happy colors

2nd Annual Jane Coslick Holiday Cottage Tour

Hello everyone. This is Jane's friend, Crystal Dorsey with Roadside Rustic. I hope all of you have been enjoying this fall weather. I sure have. It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner. And then you know what that means, in less than eight weeks Christmas will be here. Along with all the holiday madness comes hectic schedules so I want you to mark your calendars for a very special date. I'm pleased to announce The 2nd Annual Jane Coslick Holiday Cottage Tour. This will be held this year on Saturday, December 7th from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. You can purchase your tickets at Tybeefun.com

For those of you that are new to Jane's blog, this is fundraiser that was started last Dec for the Savannah Humane Society's low cost spay and neuter clinic. 100% of the proceeds go for this wonderful cause. I had a blast playing photographer for Jane last year, and look forward to doing it again this year.

I was just at Tybee last week and spent some time with Jane. She was showing me some of the new cottages she has designed recently and I spotted the white, West Elm owl lamp that I love so much.  I first spotted it at her office back in the Spring of  2012.

Then when I went back in December I noticed it was at the Bead Cottage.
And last week, I noticed Hootie (yes, I named him) had been moved yet again. I told Jane, Hootie was really making his rounds. I was joking with her about where I would see him again for the cottage tour. And Jane replied "you never know" So we thought it would be fun for all of you that will be taking this tour this year, to be on the lookout for Hootie and be sure to take your photo with him. Jane will be posting some of her fav photos on here as well as her Facebook page.

And her he is again in another cottage. But I missed this. So friends be on the lookout for him. And don't forget to grab a photo. The tour was a huge success last year and we would love to make it even bigger this year.

Happy Halloween Island Style

We have a great street that all the trick-or-treater's visit so the rest of the island is quiet ...quiet except for AJ's restaurant. Every year the "guest" get creepier and more monsters greet you as you come thru the door.  Check it out.  When you live on an island   ..
Life is mysterious..don't take it to serious

Cottage Style Magazine and The Coral Cottage

I still can't get the hang of my Mac Book so I write and blog post and then never get them
posted.( they seem to disappear  into thin air before they are posted). It has been like learning to blog for the first time.
Well, Eleanor  to the rescue and here goes...

Cottage Style magazine wrote a story about The Coral Cottage in its newest issue.
The cottage is a vacation rental on Tybee island with Tybee Cottages

I took this original window out of the dumpster  and made them a sign as their client gift.
Leonard Miller wrote my favorite saying on it….
"Beach House ocean air thru open windows..barefoot on wood floors
A special place in time...

The clients ,Vicky and Henry Patton, weren't scared to take on such a major under taking and I was delighted to help because I had spent many summer nights in the cottage as a child with my childhood girlfriends. Tybee memories are great memories.
Vicky Patton is the ultimate bargain shopper. She is great on the internet with all the deal making shopping sites. One day I will get her to show me the sites when things slow down in my world.
Everyone was so excited about this little place finding some one to love it. Our island has its share of places that need someone to love  them and renovated them.
With the increase of development in coastal towns, the risk to these small and unpretentious  cottages
of being torn down is on an increase. Our little beach town is a residential neighborhood and the negative feelings of our city officials  toward these simple dwellings … "They can't see the forrest for the tree" so to speak. These cottages are part of the our unique Tybee Island  charm. They bring revenue to the city and visitors and good energy to the island.
I am thinking about using my new van to have cottage tours to educated and encourage people to buy, restore and experience the uncomplicated  happy little island life.

One day  I may need the blogger world to help me in my task. Sending positive energy and thoughts to all your followers. More on that later.

Old House...."Great Bones"

New life for an old house...
I love an old house..no matter what shape it is in, I just dwell on the good because the bad can be repaired.
Remember my client  that wanted his condo to feel like a cottage..a new york apartment and a boat?   I I even surprised myself on that one...I accomplished it because going into things with an open mind...make them possible.
Well ,he  just bought this house in downtown  Savannah  Ga. and he wants to fix it up.  He has the right attitude and the funds to repair it.( very important things when you tackle an old house.)
This was my first peek at it yesterday and so I am only in the pondering stages. It has great things like a nice yard and a corner lot . I love the little back porch and all the original windows.
Some nutty things have been done to the house but the old heart pine floors are in wonderful shape. The interior transoms over the doors have been covered with plywood and that will make a huge difference when they are exposed again.
Some improvements have been made but the roof fell in and there is  a mess in the attic.
New roof ..first... then........then.. then...
We will share the progress ...

New Project, New Computer, New Cargo/ Passenger Van

My computer lost it's mind so I have just gotten a new computer. I don't know how to operate so it guess I will have to go to computer classes.
The bad news is...17,000 photos got loaded....and in no order..
These are a few of the reasons I have not been blogging.
Some things in life are a blessing and a curse at the same time........
So much is happening that I want to share...the new van that can haul lots of things/or people or stuff . It is dual purpose. It's a truck with a top when you remove all the seats. and a great tour bus when the twelve seats are in place.
.

Every vehicle in my office parking lot is full to the brim....
that and the 17,000 photos are about to get me down
The newest project....
