Pillows behind "the director"

The outdoor pillows looked great on the porch. They brought color and harmony between the vintage day bed and the rest of the furniture. However, don't you agree ...................... they take second place to this young lady in her" diva" shades.( I want to be her when I grow up). All the design work in the world takes second place to those who occupy the spaces. It is all about creating a place to be enjoyed by people and pets.

Shopping in the Jeep

A couple of cottages I designed are going to be featured in an upcoming book, so we filled the vehicles (all three of them) to the brim with things for styling the cottages for the photo shoot. People love to "shop" out of the trunk of my cars. These pillows are for the large porch at Bead Cottage and its tiny living room. I both found and made some fun pillows and borrowed a few wonderful pieces of Bellamy Murphy's amazing art to complete a few room. "Less is more" when it comes to simple spaces and beautiful art ties all the elements together.

Remember the the cottage off-island that I wrote about--the work in progress with the old windows? We are back in business and working on the finishing touches. I'll share with you soon!

Back from the beach

This is Bead Cottage--a wonderful, original Tybee cottage . It looks like we just came in from the beach and created ART with two damp towels. The new owners love it and are happy to rent it through TybeeCottages.com. I restored it several years ago and it was featured in Cottage Living in 2005. I really do miss that magazine. They nicknamed this cottage "the white house," which makes me smile every time I hear this--because it's actually painted the Jane Coslick color Beach House Blue! The door is painted the Jane Coslick color Key Lime Parrot. Everything inside was white but we fluffed it for the shoot with punches of color.

Ready for Sleepy People

The cottage 'Madelyn's By The Marsh" is finally finished and ready for guests. This is the other bedroom, complete with my client's Ralph Lauren twin purple sheets that I mentioned in an earlier blog. I found a very good home for them and the room is now complete and ready for dreaming!

"Made in the Shade" Shutter Headboard

Sorry for not keeping up with the blog, but my "day job" (as a designer) keeps me very busy these days as this is the busy time of season. I create "vacation fun" for clients who want a Jane Coslick Cottage.

This little two-bedroom cottage, located right on the marsh on Tybee Island, was given to me to finish 3/4 of the way through the renovation. Everything was beige!!!! I love beige, don't get me wrong, but subtle beauty wasn't going to create the "happiness factor" for this little spot. With the beige, I inherited purple sheets (Ralph Lauren) and a rust-colored sofa. We are "designing on a nickle" for those of you who watch Design on a Dime!

What I do in a case like this? RUN WITH IT!

With the help of some Jane Coslick Cottage Shutters turned into a headboard, a few thing from my secret stash, and a few "hand me ups" from the client, I surprised even myself with how it all turned out. It definitely has "the smile factor" and can be rented through http://www.mermaidcottages.com/ .

When I learn to load more that one photo, I'll show the other bedroom complete with purple RL sheets.

And don't forget to join The Jane Coslick Cottage Collection on Facebook!

Stay tuned!
