Funky Vintage Cowgirl Style..Is Calling.....

I got an email from my friend and client in Colorado last night and I decided it may be time for a visit . I did her  house a few years ago and I did and a 'Jane Coslick Happy Place' above the garage and away from the main living spaces.(In Case I ever needed to run away)
This space has some of my favorite FFF's (funky fabulous finds)   and a great Lee Industries  sofa with the perfect size bench seat cushion for watching the world drift by. The view of Sleeping Giant Mountain is breathe taking and so are the sunsets and cool nights and great fires we build.
It is such a contrast to the beach but the Elk river runs by so I still get my water fix.....
When I started the project....
I decided that turquoise being both a beach and a mountain color, would be the thread of color that was woven thru the house.

the master bedroom

Pine Cone Hill Linens and a fur rug add a magic spell to this room

matching turquoise chandeliers hang in the hallways

art and more art and more chandelier's
My MOST Favorite chair that rocks to perfection.
I had it covered in my old cowhide(never could
work that thing into my beach house).

My hide out.. One large room complete with red flannel cowgirl  pjs that
matched the room...tee hee!

vintage funky cowgirl style

the walls and floors are beautiful antique wood
with an over sized rusty tin  American flag and some old gas sign letters

soft linens and cosy comforters and a touch of burlap on the bolsters and euro
on antique  turquoise daybeds

breakfast...poker/  ...homework.. laughter all happen here!

the mirror over the sink is made from old yellow rulers and the counter tops are galvanized

cow hide nail head swivel bars , vintage cowboy movie posters, skulls and horns everything works great with the Elmira Stove works retro appliances

the amazing builder promised me a beautiful front  door
made especially for the house out of the recycled wood and  I love it!!!
HAMILTON CONSTRUCTION OF STEAMBOAT..
Mr, Carey Hamilton ..you are the best.....

My nest....and "the best bargain in the world" lamp that hold my sun glasses
until I return again!!!

the   'bricks and lace" cowgirl style

I almost couldn't part with this table when I bought it in Charleston SC.
I wanted it for myself at the the beach.

In the main house, I decided that all the dark wood needed some southern softening.. so thick red linen slip covered sofas  became the focus of the room.

on my "had to have" list .. hallway light at top of the stairwell

the view of Sleeping giant mountain

I found  this cool funky door at Habersham antiques Galley in Savannah
When I shipped it out to Steamboat they all laughed and made fun...
UNTIL it was hung!!!

I need to call and see if "my" room is available.........
PhotobucketPS. Don't forget the Giveaway...I am loving the comments about what each of you love about your home. Focus on what you love not what needs doing....it will all get done one day!!!!

A New Slipcover & The Pillow Giveaway

I'm a happy lady today. I have a  new slipcover for my loveseat. I took a few pictures of the pillow that will be given away this Friday. If you haven't already commented scroll down to the next post. You have four chances to win this time. The deadline is Friday, June 1st at 12:00 PM. So make sure all your comments are in by then.

This is a pillow that can be used indoors or out. It could be on the bed, sofa, chair or the chaise.
I think the slipcover looks great. And here it is  "in the raw." These photos were taken before my very talented slipcover artist, Jennifer Hale made it. She had just loaded the fabric into her basket and was getting ready to pedal back home. She loves her bike as much as I do. That's how we roll down here.

And off she goes to make my new slipcover!

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT!!!!

(Jennifer's email halesewing@gmail.com  for slipcovers)

You can now find me on Pinterest!

Christmas Giveaway

PLEASE NOTE: GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

Hi Everyone,

Crystal Dorsey here. I’ve been asked by my sweet friend, Jane, to do a guest post today. So thank you, Ms Jane. for having me over. It has been a while since I blogged. Some of you may remember me from the old Olive Rue blog and then there was Vintage Remixed and now I’m blog-less again. Long story and I won’t bore you with the details. While my blogs may come and go, one thing that has remained consistent in my life and that is my passion for photography.

I first visited Tybee Island in 2007 when I shot some bridal and engagement sessions on the beach. Since then I’ve been back several times but it wasn’t until this year that I had the opportunity to capture these beautiful cottages. Photographs will never truly do them justice. Seeing them in person is a magical experience. And if you ever get the chance, you have to visit this island Jane calls home. She has worked very hard to restore and preserve these cottages back to their original splendor. Walk through the front door of any one she’s worked her magic on, and it’s as if you have stepped back in time. If you are a vintage lover like we are, your heart will be sure to skip a beat. Now, you may be wondering what all this photography talk has to do with a Christmas giveaway.  Just read on…

Jane has a wonderful Christmas giveaway for all you dear bloggers. She is giving away this gorgeous pillow from her online store. It features colorful images of the Ibis bird and palm trees in a cheerful lime green, periwinkle, aqua, yellow and coral. It is made of durable indoor/outdoor fabric which is perfect for porch furniture, outdoor hanging beds, sofas, beds, hammocks or anywhere you like to relax and made to fit a 20x20 insert.

But wait, folks, that’s not all! I will be including a gift set of five photo note cards. Each card measures 5x7 and features a different image taken by me at Tybee Island at Jane’s cottages or ones that she has designed. The cards are blank inside and come with a matching white envelope. Elegantly packaged and tied with beautiful seam binding and ready for gift giving. Click on the image below for a closer look or, click here to go to my Etsy shop to see more images from Tybee Island and Jane's Cottages. This etsy shop is new and I will be donating 25% of the sales to the Milton Project which is a non-profit  organization funded by volunteers. Please leave me a note in the checkout section if you're coming over from this blog and you will receive a free photo note card with one of Jane's images with your order.

To be included in this giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment below. Jane will select a winner on Friday, December 24th. Good luck everyone. Until then wishing you all warm holiday blessings!

Reinforcements Have Arrived & My 1st Giveaway

(Giveaway Now Closed)

Hi everyone,

I'm sitting here with my good friend, Crystal Dorsey of Olive Rue and we're playing around with Blogger today. Because  I'm technically blog challenged, Crystal is showing me some tips and tricks. We've changed the background color to a light aqua. How does it look?  We're also playing around with hyper links, photos and all that good stuff.

In other news...be sure to swing by my store at: JaneCoslickCottage Collection.com I've just added a new Bellamy painting. It's the triple oyster painting and it's gorgeous.

And I'm excited to offer my first giveaway which will be an autographed copy of Cottages. This book was written by Brian Coleman & Douglas Kiester and it features several of the cottages I've restored and designed here at Tybee. To enter just leave me a comment on this post. Also if you don't have a blog please be sure to leave your name and e-mail address. I would love to know what area you are visiting from. The drawing will be held on Wednesday, Novermber 3rd at 5:00PM EST. Good luck!

And because every post is better with photos.... we leave you with a photo of my buddy, Putty. He belongs to my good friends ,Bobby and Suzanne..
This shutter headboard was a" trash to treasure" find. ...someone had discarded them ( probably to replace them with new vinyl shutters).  Little did they know. .They would never have believed their old peeling-many-coats wooded shutters would end up hanging on a wall ,featured in a book, and enjoyed by so many. LUCKY ME!!!!
